Lifelines Two
‘The place where you are right now, God circled on a map for you.’ Hafiz
Oh! How I love this quote, but there are days where it certainly doesn't feel like there is a circle, and sometimes not even a map....But then there are those other days...
The days that just simply defy the odds with the absolute elegance that can come from only a higher source. I am always watching for those moments of connection that remind me that we all have a map- and a Guide. In my last blog post, I wrote about my daughter and her trip to the Basque Country- although it was her adventure it felt deeply personal to me and I kept telling her that Destiny was involved. When she posted a few pictures from the trip to her IG account I snagged them and included them in my post. One of them showed her sitting next to a family member and there was a framed drawing behind them. An astute IG reader pointed out to me the resemblance of my daughter to that drawing. The likeness is truly uncanny- and upon investigation, I quickly learned that the woman depicted in the drawing is not a blood relation, so the logic of that resemblance is out. That drawing and my daughter's presence on that couch beneath that drawing tells me that God placed a pin on the map... and those are the moments that I live for. They only last, well.. but a moment... but if you spend your life gathering moments like that, they can be woven into a lifeline of faith... which is just what I do, and that lifeline always gets me through the days when I feel like there is no map. Doubt may cause me to drift, but Faith always tugs me back with the lifeline I have built through a lifetime of observing the cosmic flow. There is something intensely comforting about surrendering to the notion that regardless of where we are in our lives, there is a plan in place and an overarching intelligence that is aware of us and wants our good. Maybe each and every one of us have a given territory – and regardless of how far we wander and how many wrong turns we make, we can never really be lost- because we are each safe, on a map of our own.
