Chaos and Order
Without order nothing can exist - without chaos nothing can evolve.
I hate math, but I love numbers. What does this statement have to do with today's quote? Well, when I read this quote I think of the numbers 4 and 5. Symbolicaly the number 4 symbolizes Order; while the number 5 is akin to chaos.
4 is a very strong and stable number. The easiest way to envision this is to picture a simple square. Four sides, sturdy, even, does not roll away...... you get the picture. Simply stated, the number four is boxy- that means it can either bring us shelter with its structure, or it can imprison us.
Like many people, I like to have order in my life. I have lists and routines and 'known paths' that give me a great deal of comfort in my daily life . But there always comes a time, when my carefully ordered life becomes a box in which I become stuck and the energy around me grows stagnant. Right on cue- the universe always has the perfect remedy for this, and its called Chaos. The word chaos makes us grimace because it brings to mind uncontrolled energy and that can feel dangerous. We can soften the word chaos by using some other words in its place; change, reorganization, transformation...
So when the structure of our life changes (read; when the 4 walls of our box fall down) it is the number 5 that steps into place. 5's symbolize quick changes, chaos, re-organization... and yes evolution.
If we look at the cycles of Order and Chaos through the lens of numbers it reminds us that even when our lives feel like they have just fallen into chaos, it's just the natural order of things as we evolve and grow. And the chaos and necessary growth that comes with the number 5, soon gives way to the harmony of the number 6... And so it goes in the natural order of things in this universe. It feels good to be part of the whole- and when we learn to see the world with symbolic vision, its easier to find our place in the cycle.
