Cheap Seats

'Nothing has transformed my life more than realizing that it's a waste of time to evaluate my worthiness by weighing the reaction of the people in the stands.' Brene Brown

Brene Brown is one of my favorite authors- and one of the most consistent bits of wisdom she shares is to learn not to listen to those who are ever so loud, but never leave the safety of their anonymous seats in the dimly lit back row of life.

She reminds us that those who step onto the field of life to really play the game-  often receive the jeers from those who are never brave enough to emerge onto the field themselves. There will always be those who lob their opinions from the cheap seats- that safe spot far away from the vulnerability that living an authentic life requires. So next time someone in the peanut gallery launches an attack on you- don’t even bother expending the energy to duck…  their opinions are hollow, and hypocrisy has no hang time whatsoever-

The wind will take their words long before they can ever land anywhere near that place that you live your life from.
