Extra-Ordinary

'Sometimes the most ordinary things can be made extraordinary, simply by doing them with the right people.' M. SparksI love it when life imitates a good quote ☺️Yesterday me, my hubby, our 12 year old son Ajay, and a big bag of snacks headed up and over the mountains that divide our home state from the state next to us. Each month we make this same trek for an elite soccer training session for Ajay. It is a free, invite only, earn your way back each month program that gives him the amazing opportunity of playing in front of college level coaches long before he is even ready to go to high school. Sometimes when people hear about the hours and the miles we put in for his sport, they make commentary on what a sacrifice this must be. No sacrifice, just gratitude for these ordinary moments that are elevated because we get to spend them together. We have two baby birds who have already flown the nest (Sutter age 27 and Delaney age 26)  and we cherished these same kind of moments with them.... but cherished or not, time waits for no one- and those well loved moments with children fully under your care are fleeting. So watching two hours of soccer in drizzling rain, driving home in a downpour while we listened to the NCAA National Championship basketball game on the radio, and carrying a sleeping 80 pounder into the house....

These moments are the very best kind of extraordinary.... no glitter or neon signs, just simple moments elevated by love and connection.

'Sometimes the most ordinary things can be made extraordinary, simply by doing them with the right people.' P.S. I am attaching a video with a very specific viewer in mind. I don't want to embarrass her, so will not mention her by name, but she is a devoted Rx reader and has been keeping close tabs on Ajay's sporting life since the first time he ever kicked a ball. Life and circumstance has kept her from seeing him play for quite a while. I have sent pics and videos to her via private email, but last week she bumped into my hubby at the grocery store and filled him in on the fact that the technology Gods have not been very helpful to us (none of the large files in my emails worked when she clicked)... I said a little prayer to those technology Gods and have asked that this video be granted safe passage....so I am trusting this link will give her the glimpse of Ajay she has been waiting so patiently to see. ❤️
