Give it Away

Don't look for love. Quietly give it away and let it find you back.

Yesterday was a big day at our house. My mom and I managed to wrangle my two sons into a shopping trip. They are both notoriously picky about what they will wear, so shopping on their behalf rarely turns out well. Despite this, they are both quite stubborn about taking part in the acquisition of their clothing… so trips like this in addition to being adventurous, are also few and far between.During their three hours in captivity we squired them around various clothing stores and forced them into more retail acquisition than either of them wanted. Although one is almost 25 years old and the other is just 9, their taste in clothing is astonishingly similar. At one point as the two of them walked ahead of us through yet another set of glass doors- I heard the 6’2” brother remark to the 60 pounder, ‘It doesn’t matter how big you get or how old you are- you’re always going to be my baby brother.’  He then reached down and cupped his sibling's head in his big old paw like it was a basketball, and mini-me promptly threw an elbow into his big brother's ribcage in return. After that they just kept walking together in silence… and although I could only see the back of their heads, I could feel the smiles on both of their faces.

Don't look for love. Quietly give it away and let it find you back.
