Hope and Fear

‘May your choices reflect your hopes and not your fears.’ Nelson Mandela

Simple wisdom, but so very profound when we really think about this concept. Imagine that life has a steering wheel that can only be turned in two directions. A crank to the left and our life turns onto the road of fear… while a yank to the right will put us onto the tree lined street called hope.If we consistently make our life choices based on what we want to avoid, we are probably going to end up somewhere we never wanted to be and we will certainly never end up in the destination that we hope to arrive at. Avoidance never really puts a pin on the map, it just keeps us changing lanes.

Crank that wheel to the right and choose hope…. Even if you don’t arrive exactly where you want to, at least you will be moving in the right direction.
