Hope is the Winning Ticket

'Once you choose hope, anything is possible.' Christopher ReeveIt never fails to amaze me how just a little bit of  hope can change our outlook. I spent yesterday morning standing in a line with my two sons and about 100 other people I didn't know. We were outside, it was cold, and there was a light dusting of snow on the ground.  The three of us had driven 25 miles together to stand in the cold.... but the whole 25 miles was full of happy chatter, lots of 'what ifs' and ' I woulds'.My eldest child had contracted 'Power Ball Fever' last week and apparently he was contagious because this week he had passed it on to Ajay and I. The three of us had abandoned our rational minds and hopped in a car and barrelled down the highway chitty chitty bang bang style toward the nearest Lottery hub one state over from where we live.Of course we knew we had something like a 1 in 500 million chance of winning, but it was that little tiny 'what if' that had made for such a fun morning. And as we stood in line with all of those other hopeful yet non rational folks yesterday morning, it was so apparent how happy a sliver of hope was making everyone.I have never bought a power ball ticket before this. I am not a gambler, and I never pay any mind to lotteries at all. But I have to tell you, the way I felt while on this outing with my sons, was worth far more than the $20 I spent on Power Ball. I  learned that hope is cheap- and one of the best investments we can ever make.Christopher Reeve was right- once you choose hope, anything is possible.
